We’re delighted to announce another big endorsement for Lisa Savage in Maine’s historic ranked-choice voting US Senate race:
Today Bre Kidman, one of three candidates in Maine’s recent Democratic primary for US Senate, is announcing that they are endorsing Lisa Savage! Kidman is the first-ever openly non-binary US Senate candidate, and they aligned closely with Lisa on key issues including Medicare for All, the Green New Deal, tuition-free public higher education, and ending endless wars and mass incarceration.
This major development comes after more than 200 leaders in movements for peace, justice, democracy, and ecology have already endorsed Lisa Savage.
In a statement, Bre Kidman said: “At this pivotal moment, we must think critically about which candidates are willing to truly stand with the people against the unchecked influence of corporate power in this country. With millions of dollars going into attack ads meant to obscure the fact that neither major-party candidate supports policies that Mainers favor by overwhelming margins, Lisa Savage stands out as the clear choice in this race.
“Lisa Savage shows up for forums, makes herself available and accountable to voters, and focuses her campaign on the issues that really matter. In a race already overrun by irritating and irrelevant attack ads, I hope that Maine voters will join me in supporting a candidate who offers us a true path to better representation.”
In candidate forums where Lisa Savage appeared together with Bre Kidman and Betsy Sweet (while Sara Gideon and Susan Collins skipped out), Lisa strongly agreed with Bre’s focus on getting money out of politics, holding corporate-backed candidates accountable, and helping those particularly affected by the coronavirus and its economic impact.
Embracing Bre’s endorsement, Lisa Savage said: ““Mainers are tired of voting for the candidate they least dislike and being told they would otherwise be ‘spoilers’. They made that point loudly and clearly, two times voting to support ranked-choice voting, and I’m here to tell them that they are free to vote their values this fall. I am proud to have Bre’s support, and I hope those who have supported Bre will join our grassroots campaign and rank me first for the U.S. Senate.”
If you’re inspired by how Lisa Savage stands up for the issues that really matter, like Bre Kidman is, please pitch in today to help grow our grassroots campaign - for a limited time, your donations will be matched up to $5,000 by our generous supporters!
Thank you for everything you do to help build our movement for a new kind of politics that puts people, planet, and peace over profit. Stay safe and be well!
